What if something as simple as blessing someone in Jesus’s name could reach people in one of the hardest-to-reach nations on earth?
That’s exactly what’s happening in Japan.
Christian and Rie have been faithfully serving there for years, but saw little fruit. They noticed that while people were resistant to traditional evangelism, they were deeply spiritual and open to spiritual things and prayer. Something shifted when they began to focus more on prayer and blessing and stepping out boldly in public places and with the people they know. Now doors to the gospel are opening up!
We posted a new story and short video about it and I think it will really encourage you.

Novo’s President, Mark Thrash, recently visited the team with his family—and here’s what he shared:
“Our days in Japan were rich with the Kim family. A high value in Japanese culture is harmony. I couldn’t believe how much peace and rest I felt even while traveling. I saw so many elements of the Kingdom of God and the fruits of the Spirit, it was just so different from any culture I’ve experienced in that way. Since leaving, I’ve dreamed, prayed, and asked God to give us strategies for how to see the gospel really take root and begin to multiply in Japan. I wonder if the fruits of the Spirit could be a starting point since many of those things are already cultural values? We really do believe that God is already present wherever he calls us to go and our job is to listen and say “yes” to the assignments and strategies he gives us. Please join me in praying for this team and country, for Jesus and the gospel to break in in ways we have never seen before!”
This story is such a beautiful example of how spiritual breakthrough can come in the most unexpected ways! I hope you’ll check it out on the Novo Blog!
