When a Short-Term Trip Becomes Something More

A few weeks ago, we introduced the first step of Launch Global’s mobilization pathway: Discover—helping believers explore God’s heart for the nations and begin asking how He might be inviting them to participate in His mission.

This week, we’re taking the next step: DEVELOP.

Sometimes, God uses a single experience to begin changing the direction of a person’s life.

A young woman entered her church’s college mentorship program with a plan. She was pursuing a career in medicine and exploring what her future might look like. Missions wasn’t on her radar—at least not long-term.

Then, she took a short-term mission trip to India.

When she returned home, she sat down with her mentor and shared something she couldn’t ignore:

“I really think God is inviting me to pursue this long-term.”

That conversation marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Over the following months, she applied to Launch Global’s Goer Training Team—our nine-month discipleship and training program designed to help believers discern God’s calling and prepare for long-term ministry. Rather than simply asking, “Where do you want to go?” we help participants ask deeper questions:

How has God uniquely wired me? Am I ready for the challenges of long-term ministry? How can I best serve where the gospel is needed most?

Through life-on-life discipleship, Disciple-Making Teams, coaching, and intentional assessment alongside local churches, we help develop goers who are spiritually grounded, resilient, and equipped to serve faithfully for years to come.

Stories like hers remind us that very few people wake up one day ready to move across the world. They are developed over time—through mentors, churches, training, and faithful obedience to each next step.

If you’re receiving this email, it’s because your generosity is part of stories like this. Your partnership creates space for believers to be mentored, discipled, trained, and prepared for wherever God calls them. Thank you for investing in the next generation of goers.

Together, we’re helping develop goers who will carry the hope of the gospel to the nations.

With gratitude,
