What if I’m Not Enough
Have you ever found yourself feeling like you don’t quite belong? Am I enough? Am I qualified for this role?
I know I have more than once in my life, I’ve stepped into a new role or responsibility and wondered if I was really the right person for it. Whether in my work, as a mom, a wife, a daughter, or in opportunities God has placed before me, there have been many times when I’ve looked around and thought someone else would be better qualified. Someone more experienced, more capable, or more confident. It’s easy to believe everyone else has figured it out while Iām just trying to keep up. It’s easy to question whether we belong in the place where God has put us.
I’ve reminded myself that God repeatedly chose ordinary people who likely felt the same way. Moses doubted his ability to lead. Gideon questioned whether he was the right person for the task. Jeremiah felt too young. None of them felt fully prepared for what God was asking them to do. God never called them because they were the most qualified. He called them because He had a purpose for them. He consistently uses imperfect people to accomplish His perfect plans. And if that’s true, then I’m His kind of person!
So, let’s step into the roles God has given us today knowing it’s okay if we don’t feel qualified or confident. In fact, if God’s plan depended on us having it all together, we are all in trouble! Our confidence isn’t found in ourselves. It’s found in trusting that God knows exactly what He’s doing.
He has placed each of us where we are for a reason. He has given us unique gifts, experiences, and opportunities to serve Him. When we feel like we don’t belong, we can remember that our identity isn’t found in our abilities but in the One who called us. The God who called Moses, Gideon, and Jeremiah is the same God who calls and equips us today. He doesn’t ask us to be perfect. He simply asks us to trust Him and be faithful where He has planted us.
Enough by Grace,
