 Dear Bolick Foundation, We want to share a story from our missionary Jessie Cisneros, who serves with her husband and kids in Mexico:We have been serving the people of General Cepeda, Mexico, for the past three years. After several months of getting to know the people of the town and being a consistent presence in the youth group, I started to feel a tug in my heart to go deeper with some of the young ladies who demonstrated leadership qualities. I felt a conviction that this was something God was asking me to do. For the next two and a half years, we started meeting twice a month. I gave them deeper formation on prayer and reading the Bible, hosted days of prayer and reflection in our chapel at the mission house, and facilitated inner healing. It was amazing to see their hearts go from an initial encounter with God’s love to realizing that Jesus really does want a personal relationship with them, that He loves them deeply through all moments, and that He cares about each and every detail of their lives. One young lady, Joanna, wrote, “Before knowing Christ, my life seemed full of activities, outings, and distractions, but in reality, there was a void I didn’t recognize because I tried to fill it with everything except what was truly important: my faith. … It was at a youth retreat where I experienced an encounter that transformed my heart. That retreat filled me in a way that nothing and no one ever had before, and it was there that I decided I wanted to be a servant of God. If you ask me what the best decision of my life has been, without a doubt, it has been surrendering my youth to Christ.” It has been a privilege to walk with these amazing young women. Because of our call from the Lord to missions, and the support of our mission partners, we are able to continue walking alongside them. Sometimes we are walking very closely, even daily with them, and other times we have been available for them to talk weekly, to pray with them, or just to send a text message about a question or concern. Jesus is at work in the hearts of these beautiful young women! |
