South Sudan Evangelism

Amidst the challenges of war, poverty and conflict, our partners at the Evangelical Lutheran Church African Mission – South Sudan (ELCAMSS) and Reconciliation Lutheran Church find ways to thrive and share the light of Christ.

The church calls, gathers, and sends disciples in the world, hosting weekly worship services for people of all tribes and cultures, promoting peace and reconciliation between ethnic groups, training mission leaders, reaching out to neighbors and hosting worship services. The congregation continues to grow and in 2024, they welcomed 76 people into the Body of Christ through baptisms! The average age of this vibrant congregation is 18. Many members grow their faith and contribute to the vibrant life of the congregation through choir, youth group, women’s group, and Bible study.

The clinic on the grounds of the ELCAMSS Center in Juba’s Hai Referendum is part of the ELCAMSS’s holistic ministry. The clinic provides critical medical services that bring hope and healing to community members. In 2024, the clinic recorded 20,579 consultation visits, 1,543 deliveries, 6,432 prenatal clinic visits and 20,730 routine vaccinations. The clinic sees thousands of patients each year and Reconciliation Lutheran Church’s pastor takes time to counsel and pray with patients and invites them to join the congregation. Your gift to support South Suan Evangelism is sharing the hope and light of Jesus Christ with Hai Referendum community members.

South Sudan Evangelism is a program of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. ELCA is a faith partner of The Bolick Foundation.
