Facing an unexpected pregnancy can feel isolating and overwhelming. In these moments, a woman doesn’t need to be sold an abortion— she needs compassionate care and a supportive community to help her navigate her future. Across the nation and in North Carolina, Her PLAN steps in to meet a mother in her community and helps her transform her life so that choosing life is the best option.
Meaningful support does not always require a dramatic intervention; often, it begins with meeting the everyday needs that any mother experiences.
One of these simple gaps in care is laundry services for mothers in Durham, NC. Together with Uplift Laundry Truck, our North Carolina Coordinator, Selina, hosted a Day of Action to provide free laundry services for pregnant women and mothers in need. Uplift Laundry Truck serves families in North Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham region by providing them with free laundry services and supplies, meeting them in spaces that work for them. Over 21 families attended and, thanks to generous support from a community of partners, Her PLAN was able to offer a raffle for Food Lion groceries, a family dinner at Bob Evans, Chick-fil-A gift cards for kids’ meals, and a clothes and diaper give-away.
