Nico grew up in a loving Catholic family in Argentina, but his life changed when his dad died
suddenly when Nico was only 8. Nico couldn’t understand why God would separate him from
the person he loved the most in the world. After that, his life could only be described as chaos – until recently.
He began using drugs at a young age. When he was old enough to work, he would get a job but
lose it. An abandoned car became his home. When he was older, he moved to Costa Rica, to “find” himself, but this made things worse. He was even further from his family, friends, and his dreams.
In July of 2007, with the support of his family, he was finally able to get clean. He could feel God’s tug on his heart at that time, but there was something missing. Nico constantly struggled with depression, and over the years, he kept begging God to help him overcome it. He was in and out of work.
However, shortly after the pandemic, Nico was hired as a social worker. At the facility, he met
the lady that God would use to change his life.
One night he overheard her participating in a Zoom meeting. It was a gathering of one of IMPACT’s Houses of Peace. Eavesdropping, he actually heard the message of salvation explained in a very simple way. He interrupted the lady by passing her notes with questions to ask the group. He wanted
to know more about what they were discussing.
This encounter led to the opportunity to attend Pura Vida Church that had sponsored the House of Peace. It was a place where he felt welcome. He heard pastor Denis Leon sharing about God in such a natural way that it just awakened him spiritually. He gave his life to Jesus, was baptized, and joined the church. He met his future wife there and now they have a baby girl.
He is grateful for the new life God has given him.
