Over the past few years, World Methodist Evangelism (WME) has developed a wonderful partnership with the Methodist Church in Cuba. Each year, we have brought groups of pastors with us who have been part of our FLAME Fellows program, a 10 month cohort for emerging pastors hoping to grow spiritually and as leaders.
This year, however, things have been a bit different – We will be here for 10 days, working with 2 separate groups. For the first half of this trip, we have gathered a small group of WME partner leaders. Together, these leaders get to experience what God is doing through the church in Cuba while also developing creative ways to partner with us in our desire to see leaders all over the world connected and equipped to lead faith sharing movements. We just finished our first few days in Cuba and we have already been blown away by how God is working in so many ways!
For the second half of our trip, we will be joined by a small team of leaders who will help us lead a Unity In Mission seminar in partnership with the Cuban church. For 3 days, we will be teaching about 150 missionaries and lay leaders and preaching in the evenings. As a demonstration of the global nature of the Methodist Wesleyan movement, our team of 8 includes leaders from 5 nations and 6 denominations. Together, we will teach on evangelism, calling, leadership, Spirit-empowered ministry, and the global nature of God’s mission.
Pray for us, for the church in Cuba, and for all who will participate in the events of the next several days. We are trusting God for a great move of the Holy Spirit, for new connections to be made, and for leaders inspired to persevere in ministry for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus is changing lives!
