Can you imagine waiting 24 years for a chance to be baptized?
That was precisely the situation of Maral*, one of 34 Iranian Christian women who attended our women’s conference in the region in late January.
Despite being born into a Muslim family, Maral had been fascinated with Jesus from a young age. She later put her trust in Him, but for many years did not have the opportunity to have regular fellowship and teaching.
Before January, she had also never attended a Christian conference outside of Iran. She and the other women arrived with palpable excitement.
For the first time in their Christian walks, these women were able to worship at the top of their lungs without fear of discovery. They were able to enjoy rich Bible teaching and the fellowship of other believers without anxiety.
But most exciting of all was the opportunity for baptism. Many, like Maral, had waited years for the chance. As 22 of the women went through the waters, many joyful tears were flowing.
What a privilege it is to be able to offer these precious sisters this opportunity.
