World Methodist Evangelism recently provided evangelism training for the Wesleyan Methodist family in Ecuador. It was an exciting time of learning, growth, and celebration as leaders from The Church of the Nazarene and the Methodist Church of Ecuador gathered for a three-day assemblage.
There has been a Wesleyan Methodist presence in Ecuador for almost two centuries. And the Ecuadorian churches continue to reach people for Christ in dynamic and exciting ways, both with new church plants and ongoing ministries. During our time together, pastors and church leaders experienced a wide variety of teaching, such as the history of the Wesleyan Methodist missionary movement in Ecuador, the role of women in the church, and utilizing small groups as a catalyst for evangelism.
Here’s what a couple of people had to say:
- A Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ecuador shared that the material was a much-needed resource for their pastors and churches. They are still hampered by the impacts of the pandemic, the rise of violence, and other social concerns. This event provided the inspiration and tools for sharing Jesus and making disciples.
- A young pastor who attended was feeling isolated and needed connection. This gathering helped him see that there were other people going through similar things. In addition, the training gave him encouragement for ministry projects he had been wanting to do but didn’t know how to proceed.
The church in Ecuador is vibrant, and the Holy Spirit is doing great things!
