Carrying the Gospel

In partnership with the Bolick Foundation and Gospel Recordings, Every Home for Christ launched a project to share the truth and love of Jesus with approximately 41,302 members of thirteen marginalized indigenous people groups in Mexico. Every Home’s local ministry office in Mexico proposed using specially designed audio player devices loaded with scripture in local languages and visual materials to overcome language barriers and low literacy rates, which have limited these groups’ access to the gospel. Additionally, the project aimed to establish 260-500 fellowship groups in these communities to disciple new believers.

Despite varied challenges and risks posed by the geography of the areas to be reached and the hostile influence exerted by drug traffickers in some areas, Every Home Mexico teams trekked to isolated communities and reported that, so far, the project has been a resounding success.

“Thanks to the support of our donor[s], who are faithful to God’s call, we were able to acquire enough speakers on which we recorded messages, songs, and testimonies in regional ethnic languages,” our team reports. “These…make evangelization easier for us because Mexican ethnic groups have a more deeply rooted habit of listening rather than reading.”

In January 2024, an Every Home team traveled six hours by car and three hours by foot through the Lacandona Jungle to Chilon. The trip was physically taxing due to intense heat, insects, and the scarcity of drinkable water. However, Every Home teams did reach this community and established several discipleship groups in the homes of new believers.

Language barriers present a significant obstacle to reaching Mexico’s indigenous communities with the gospel. Local believers who speak the local language and appropriate outreach resources are, therefore, vital to sharing Jesus. In December 2023 and January 2024, Every Home teams visited Creel in the Chihuahua mountain range. “There, our brothers dedicated themselves to evangelizing in the region where the Rarámuris ethnic group lives,” our team reports. They have regularly visited thirty-five homes in the area, resulting in eighteen new believers.

Every Home emphasizes training and equipping local Christians for outreach and discipleship in their communities. In Chilapa de Álvarez, an Every Home team trained twenty-five indigenous believers from the Aja-cayán community. These believers are now leading prayer and outreach in their areas, combating the fear that dominates much of this region due to the influence and power of criminal groups in the area.

“It is our hope that,” our team says in a recent report, “donors will be able to appreciate the tangible impact of their contribution in the lives of hundreds of people who have been reached by the transformative message of the gospel in [these] areas of Mexico…without you, our work would not be possible. Thank you for being partners in this beautiful work of love and reconciliation.”
