WEATHERING THE STORM
With my husband, Jeff, being an avid traveler, our daughters could always count on receiving a souvenir from each of his trips. I believe it was in the late 80s when Jeff brought our oldest daughter, Sally, a stuffed polar bear. She adored it and named it Opie. Recently, while mustering the energy to clean out yet another closet, I spotted Opie.
Opie is no longer in her original state. The stuffed animal has two sizable splits with stuffing spilling out, and parts of her fur are now worn and flat. Opie was a constant during Sally’s youth. Opie bears the marks of happy times, likely a few sticky kisses, as well as lost promises, hard days, and sleepless nights. Despite the years and the wear and tear, Opie still carries the peace and comfort she has always offered.
Similarly, Jesus offers us peace during life’s storms. We can carry harmony and contentment, knowing that faith in Him will help us weather the challenges ahead.
