Sunday Kind of Love

As a lead singer in a local band, my husband enjoys a variety of music. Most recently he and other band mates were trying out new songs. One they agreed upon was Sunday Kind of Love. It’s a great song that soared to notoriety when Etta James covered it.

I want a Sunday kind of love
A love to last past Saturday night
And I’d like to know it’s more than love at first sight
And I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh, yeah, yeah

I want a, a, a love that’s on the square
Can’t seem to find somebody
Someone to care
And I’m on a lonely road that leads to nowhere
I need a Sunday kind of love

The song speaks of longing for a deep, lasting love …something real and stable.
This kind of love is relatable to the love of Jesus, which is unconditional, eternal, and unwavering. Much like the song, those that follow Christ often long for a relationship that offers a sense of eternal peace. Sunday Kind of Love is symbolic of the sustaining love we experience when we spend time with God in worship and prayer. We seek and embrace His love and in return He offers comfort, peace, and a stable presence.
