Horizons International shared the following update on ministry at the Tripoli Center.
The Tripoli Center (Tripoli, Libya) has set some exciting goals for 2024, with a vision to declare Jesus in the North. Their goal is to reach over 300 children, 500 women, and 70 men in the area. Discipleship meetings are being held, with a weekly gathering of over 60 women. Recent initiatives include Sunday services, house visits, a children’s Christmas event, and an upcoming outreach festival in the village of Mejdlayya. The ministry is making great strides in spreading the gospel message and positively engaging with the local community.
In late 2023, the ministry team visited families in need in the nearby area. During these visits, they met a young girl named Ruaa, who was forced into marrying a drug-addicted man while she was still underage. They had a daughter, but their marriage lasted only a few months. After eventually separating from him, Ruaa was rejected by her father who refused to see her. The team met with and comforted her and were able to speak with her about the heavenly father, and the compassion He has for her.
Sadly Ruaa’s father, a religious extremist, did not allow the team to speak with her for very long. Please pray for more opportunities to minister to Ruaa and that some of her wider family may also come to know and love the Lord.
Team members also met with Heba, who is fervently seeking Jesus after he miraculously appeared to her in a dream! Before this experience, Heba had absolutely no knowledge of Jesus and knew almost nothing about Christianity. She is now truly open to the Lord and wants to know me more. We are now following up with her and trust that God will continue to transform her heart.
In addition to the above, we continue to spread the love of God in many other creative ways throughout Tripoli. Please pray for more hearts to be opened to the Lord here. Pray also for the protection of our staff and volunteers who face significant opposition from the predominantly Sunni Muslim population in the area.
