Celebrating the NOs
We often celebrate the yesses, the answered prayers, the open doors, and the opportunities that come together as we hoped.
But what if we celebrated the NOs, too?
When life doesn’t go as planned or you feel like you can’t catch a break, I remember something my husband taught me many years ago: “Sometimes, we need to celebrate the Nos.” At first, I wasn’t sure I wanted to celebrate them. I’m much more of a “yes, please!” kind of person. But somewhere along the way, I began to understand what he meant. I learned to recognize that a no may not be a setback at all. It may be a season of waiting and preparation. Sometimes God closes a door because He is preparing us for the right one to open. Sometimes the answer is “not yet” because there is something He wants to do in us before He does something through us.
Maybe that closed door is protection.
Maybe that delay is preparation.
Maybe that “no” is simply God saying, “WAIT”.
As we step into a new season, with a new school year, new routines, new opportunities, and new beginnings, let’s remember every season has a purpose. Even the seasons of waiting. Even the seasons of uncertainty. Even the seasons that begin with a “no.” So perhaps instead of seeing “no” as a disappointment or a setback, we can see it as an invitation to trust God with what comes next.
Because sometimes a “no” isn’t God withholding something from us. Sometimes it’s God preparing us for what we’re not ready to receive. And maybe that is worth celebrating!
With celebration,
