PLANTING FAITHFULLY

A trip to Jordan Lake in North Carolina was a great adventure with two of our grandkids, Anna and Milly. The lake is beautiful, outlined with sandy beaches. It is a man-made lake; construction began in the late 1960s for flood control and water supply. Its purpose has since expanded to include recreation and fish and wildlife habitats.

As I reflect on our excursion and the picturesque scenery, I think of the people who worked diligently to make Jordan Lake a reality. Good seeds, planted faithfully, have indeed produced lasting good.

The same principle applies to our daily lives. Every word spoken, every choice made, every act of obedience or neglect is a seed placed into the soil of the future. Some harvests are immediate; others are meant for generations we may never meet.

As the sun was setting, we packed up our things. It was hard not to feel grateful for the beauty before us and for the hands that made it possible. Jordan Lake reminds us that what we sow today—faithfulness, integrity, kindness, and obedience—can become a sanctuary and a source joy for those who come after us.
