Our God is at work! The grant from the Bolick Foundation is already helping mobilize leaders in powerful ways.
One of the pastors we’ve worked with in Zambia, Alfred Kalembo, has been serving in one of the poorest communities in Lusaka since 2008. He felt called to reach the next generation and prayed for the chance to disciple 1,000 young people. That prayer became a vision, and that vision is now becoming a movement.
ILI helped sponsor a History Makers training that Pastor Alfred led. One young man, Matthew, returned from that training with 38 friends ready to be equipped. What followed was not planned, but it was expected. So impacted by the training, these young leaders began investing what they had received into others. They launched three new cohorts on their own and trained 90 more young leaders. Now they’re active on four university campuses and have caught the attention of students in Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and The Copperbelt University, who all want in.
