Does following Jesus cost your culture?

You may have heard of the Uyghers (pronounced wee-ghers) in the news, especially in the last few years as they face persecution in East Asia. They are a predominantly Muslim people group that are scattered throughout Asia.

Richard is a Uygher who lives in Central Asia, but he isn’t Muslim. Many years ago, he learned about Jesus and accepted Him as his Savior, even though some people in his community thought that accepting Jesus meant he was betraying his Uygher culture.

While Richard still loves his cultural heritage, he loves something else more: telling people about Jesus. He leads a house church in his hometown for his fellow Uyghers, so they can come to know their Savior and grow in their faith without losing their cultural identity. His church also leads evangelistic outreaches to Uyghers in other Central Asian countries.
