Steiger missionary Allison started a conversation with a woman named Anna. “She asked me if I had slept well in the past nights,” explained Allison. “I answered and asked how she had slept. She said she usually needs to take drugs and keep watching videos until she falls asleep. She feels like she never sleeps well.”
That led to a deeper conversation about being at peace. Allison shared her own journey with mental health and explained to her how surrendering to Jesus was what ultimately healed her. Anna cried and said she wasn’t worthy of Jesus because she lives a crazy lifestyle.
“I told her the prodigal son story and how the father loved his son so much that he didn’t care how dirty he was when he came back home. The father just ran and hugged his son, as he was. I explain that God loves her so much; he had his arms wide open for her today.”
She was deeply moved and said, “Yes, I want Jesus!”
“We prayed a powerful prayer together and ended up talking about what baptism is, and she wanted to be baptized right away!”
They left the campsite and headed to a friend’s swimming pool. Everyone in the team celebrated with Anna, hugging her and encouraging her.
