A Briefing from The Bolick Foundation – June, 2024

TAKE THE CALL

I must confess, I have a lack of understanding when referring to a call.  A call was made from our church for a new pastor; the call was accepted and yet it was short-lived.  I wondered if God called again, if the call was misunderstood or if personal circumstances presented the change to seek a new call.

Have you heard God’s call?  Our primary calling is to have a relationship with Him. We are all disciples of Christ. When in doubt if you have what it takes to be a disciple, remember God wants all of us.  Those who recognize their own shortcomings and vulnerabilities can still be powerful instruments in God’s kingdom. It underscores the notion that God’s call is not contingent upon our perceived worthiness but rather on our willingness to have a relationship with Him.

Ultimately, discerning a call requires listening, prayer, and reflection.  It is about being open to where you feel led, even if it’s not where you expected to go. Taking the call often involves trust and faith that God will equip you for the journey ahead.

Do you hear God’s call?
